🍄 Small steps, big growth, what's yours?

🍄 Leaps of Faith & Growth

Hi Reader,

“Any progress is made by leaps of faith, some small and some large.”
– Julia Cameron, The Artist's Way, Week Five

We’re almost halfway through Inspiration Alchemy, now in week five, and the quote above was from this week’s reading of The Artist's Way.

It reminded me how often growth is about stepping outside our comfort zones and taking leaps of faith. Putting ourselves out there, and sometimes expanding beyond what feels safe.

Sometimes we feel bold, we take a big leap, trusting that the net will appear. Sometimes that means we venture to take large doses of mushrooms!

But growth doesn’t mean we have to throw ourselves into massive, overwhelming situations. Sometimes, all it takes is a small step, inching forward, gradually expanding our comfort zone, and in the process, stretching what we believe we’re capable of.

For my artist's date this week, I went to a comedy improv workshop. I felt awkward and anxious at times and though I'm not sure I'll go again, I'm glad I went because I know that I grow through these experiences. I know that my comfort zone expands, even if ever so slightly.

(I did also laugh out loud a few times and break into plenty of smiles)

And these leaps of faith fall in the balance of inner and outer work.

"As each idea comes to us, we must in good faith clear away our inner barriers to acting on it, and then on an outer level take the concrete steps necessary to trigger our synchronous good."
- The Artist's Way, Week Five, continued

Sometimes, the real work happens inside first—overcoming self-doubt before sharing our art, working through fear before stepping into a new role, or healing past wounds before entering a new relationship.

Other times, action itself breaks the resistance—showing up to the blank page even when uninspired, performing even when nervous, or saying yes to an opportunity before we feel fully ready.

So, what’s one small leap of faith you can take this week?

A glance, a sentence, a strange moment of timing.Something brings you together, and somehow, in some way, they stay with you. There’s a word for that in Korean: 인연 - Inyeon Inyeon means something like fateful connection. It refers to the invisible threads that tie people together. The sense of meaningful encounters. 🍄 The Let Me Theory Hi Reader, After last week’s Let Them newsletter, a few of you wrote back and let me know that the idea resonated with you. The idea was simple but deep: Let other people make their choices and live their lives, and stop making it your job or responsibility to manage or control what they are doing. I mentioned the book that inspired the newsletter, The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins. Turns out the book is actually in two parts. Let Them, and... Let Me. Let Them is about...
